Star Wars Battlefront 2 Reveals The Rise of Skywalker Update

Get ready to immerse yourself in The Rise of Skywalker with loads of new stuff in Star Wars Battlefront 2.

The developers from EA DICE have lifted the lid on their next big update for Star Wars Battlefront 2, revealing heaps of tie-in content that will link up with the cinematic release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

As the Sequel Trilogy segment of the Skywalker saga comes to an end on the big screen, players will be able to immerse themselves in the movie’s galaxy through a slew of interactive experiences in Star Wars Battlefront 2. The game is currently celebrating the second anniversary of its launch, and this big new update kicks off today (Dec. 17). It is free to everybody that already owns the game.

As you’d expect, this big update will feature new playable areas: gamers will be able to return to Jakku, which featured in the previous Battlefront game, and they’ll also get to visit a brand-new jungle planet for the first time. You can see all that and more in this trailer:

You’ll be able to visit Jakku and the jungle planet in various game modes, and you’ll also get some new playable characters to experiment with. Perhaps most exciting is the arrival of BB-8 as a hero character, which will allow players to roll around the battlefield at high speeds.

The red-armor-wearing Sith Troopers from The Rise of Skywalker, previously seen as tie-in toys, will also be added to Battlefront 2 as reinforcements. The baddies are also gaining a First Order Jet Trooper, while the Resistance forces are being beefed up with Gunner and Spy units.
