Robert Kirkman teases The Walking Dead season 5
The Walking Dead comic book creator has spilled a bean or two about progress on season five...
The Walking Dead only left us a fortnight ago, but already thoughts are turning to season five. According to an interview comic book creator and series Executive Producer Robert Kirkman, the writing team is currently midway through the fifth run of the zombie apocalypse show.
Kirkman told MTV he has just submitted a script for episode two in the new run, and that the team has "already nailed down what our finale is, and what our overall arc of the season is."
One question comic book readers have for Kirkman and showrunner Scott Gimple is when we can expect to see Negan and 'Lucille' join the show? According to Kirkman, "As far as Negan casting goes, Scott [Gimple] and I are always talking about who we would put in that. It's definitely on our minds, and there are a lot of candidates." He continues, "I wouldn't expect Negan too terribly soon, although he is definitely in the plan. It's a 99% lock that he's going to be in the show eventually, so be on the lookout for that."
We're also on the lookout for more news of AMC's announced The Walking Dead spin-off, on which Kirkman is working with Dave Erickson. Following the initial announcement, word on the in-development show has been determinedly vague. Kirkman sheds little light on the plans, telling MTV "As far as the spin-off goes, I'm actively working with Dave Erickson on that, and we know when our proposed release date is, although I can't tell you that, obviously. We're working towards that show, and it's going to be awesome."
Filming on The Walking Dead season five is due to start in May.
