We've seen the teaser trailer, but now we get the first official image from the BBC's Sherlock season three, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

While it doesn't reveal much, the first trailer for the BBC's Sherlock series 3 should be just enough to whet fans' already ravenous appetites. The image, with a lurking Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) presumably about to tell John Watson (Martin Freeman) how the heck he managed to survive his little plummet at the end of the season 2 finale, "The Reichenbach Fall."

"It's been a long time since Sherlock Holmes jumped off that roof - it's time to reveal the truth about what happened between him and the pavement," said series co-creator (not to mention writer, executive producer, etc) Steven Moffat. It certainly has been a long time! "The Reichenbach Fall" aired in 2012, and the first episode of season 3, "The Empty Hearse" (written by Mark Gattis) is scheduled for US broadcast on January 19th, 2014. Presumably, the BBC will air it earlier in the UK...
