Liam Neeson is abducting $20 million for Taken 3
Liam Neeson has a very particular set of skills and they are apparently worth a boatload over at 20th Century Fox.
According to Deadline, Neeson is just securing his deal to return to the Luc Besson written/produced series, Taken, for a threequel with a $20 million payday. With production already slated to begin in February, Neeson will appear once more as Bryan Mills in Taken 3.
Deals are still not in place for Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen to respectively return as Bryan’s wife and ex-wife, but overtures are being made.
We are happy for Neeson, truly. Of all the gruff middle-aged actors reaching for past glories in the action genre, the Oscar nominated thespian outshines them all by bringing a grit and sincerity to the efforts, as well as the slightest degree of BAMF camp.
With all that said, let’s just hope they save some money for an original idea this time. Because more than Neeson’s character and his movie wife were spirited away in Taken 2. Also missing was the plot.
May Taken 3 bring back all the campy glories of Mr. Neeson and his particularly threatening phone chatting skills.
