UPDATED: While Tina Fey is indeed working on an Untitled Witch Project, it isn't Hocus Pocus 2. Fey is producing the film and will definitely star in it. Deadline seems to throw cold water on the idea that Disney is even developing Hocus Pocus 2. It's all a lot of conflicting info, but we'll get you more as we hear it.
The ever-popular '90s Disney movie Hocus Pocus is getting a sequel, as was first revealed earlier in the year. And now news reaches us that Tina Fey is getting involved in the project.
Fey's production company, Little Stranger, is getting behind the new film, and the mighty Fey herself will be one of the producers of Hocus Pocus 2. At this stage, it's unclear whether she plans to act in the film as well.
The sequel is set to pick things up many years after the original, which starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and the brilliant Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, a trio of not always pleasant witches. The new film will focus on "a housewife who is related to the Sanderson sisters, who teams up with a witch hunter to save her children after they run afoul of some resurrected witches while out trick-or-treating".
Thus far, no acting talent is attached to Hocus Pocus 2. Earlier in the year, it was revealed that the plan was to recruit lead stars in the vein of "Fey and Melissa McCarthy".
We'll keep you posted.
