Telltale Games continues Clementine’s journey by bringing us Episode 4 of Season 2 of The Walking Dead, and it starts out with some intense moments.

Can I just talk about Rebecca for a minute? Man, I can’t stand Rebecca. She’s always so whiny. Sure, she’s pregnant, and in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, but she could be a little less obnoxious with her worrying, right? Thankfully, this was it for her–I for one chose to shoot her without any hesitation. And, spoiler, Kenny shoots her if you don’t for an alternate ending anyway. Thankfully, Rebecca wasn’t the only weak character to meet her demise, as Sarah also got the axe in this episode. I won’t miss her either, though.

Episode 4 showed a lot of development for Jane, which is definitely something I wanted to see after her introduction. Pairing her with Clementine is a great match; Jane is the smart survivalist that’s emotionally unavailable while Clementine is eager to learn how to survive and will bring out the softer side of Jane. The pairing of the two works very well for this reason. Unfortunately, Jane’s stay didn’t last long, although I doubt this is the last we’ll see of her. There was too much focus placed on her character to let this be the end.

The Walking Deadalways feels fresh; there is always something to explore and discover. I only wish the game was set in an open world to multiply and let you discover on your own. Think about an RPG based on The Walking Dead.Wow. But Telltale’s The Walking Dead isn’t meant to be that sort of game, and that’s fine. Instead, Telltale blends point and click with great story development and the right bit of action to create a truly unique experience. It’s not the type of game for everyone, but it is definitely on my list of must plays.

The episode ends with possibly one of the most tense moments for the series we’ve seen yet, although Arvo’s return was expected–I mean, the guy DID say they’d regret stealing his stuff, right? I can’t wait to see how it all ends when Episode 5 drops in a month or so. Will Clem fall victim to Arvo and his group of Russian friends? What happens to Rebecca’s baby now? Is the group going to raise her? Are we going to be forced to make a tough choice in Episode 5? Please, Telltale, don’t put that decision on us.
