OlliOlli made waves when it skated up a storm on the PlayStation Vita as a January release. However, other Sony addicts of the console persuasion have been itching to get their hands on the title since it was announced in March that it would be transferred to the PlayStation 4, the PlayStation 3, and PC. Now sources have confirmed to us exactly when that will be.
While speaking with Den of Geek at PAX East on Friday, Simon Bennett, director of OlliOlli developer Roll7, revealed that the gaming title was expected to launch on the other platforms come July 22, 2014.
"We are looking at July 22nd," Bennett said. "[Which is] my birthday!"
OlliOlli is the funky PS Vita skatboarding side-scroller that Sony handheld users have been playing all winter. After a long drought in the skateboard genre following the release of Skate 3, OlliOlli's 2D platform-grinding has been the perfect antidote for genre fatigue, creating a new brand seemingly overnight.
The PlayStation version of OlliOlli was announced to be similar to the Vita version, however Roll7 Director Simon Bennett has previously confirmed that it would have one major difference, thereby promising something more original and intriguing than a port.
Here is the launch trailer for the PS Vita version:
We’ll keep you posted on more OlliOlli news as it develops.
