Melanie Schmitz

Melanie Schmitz is a political journalist and the senior staff writer and content editor for an international nonprofit. She is the editor in chief/managing editor of Cake & Poison, a news and media website which she founded in 2014. Melanie has written extensively for multiple websites, including HelloGiggles, Cinefilles, and the independent publisher Quirk Books. In 2015, she was invited to report on the No Ceilings initiative through the Clinton Foundation.
Melanie is a published poet and a news/science junkie with an affinity for all things nerdy and pop-cultured. She has worked more Supernatural conventions and Nerd HQs than she can count on one hand and harbors an unhealthy obsession with Justice Elena Kagan’s wild Spider-Man ruling.
